Product Overview

An Ultimate Foundation

The HD1 series is our flagship design that we consider to be the best value for a properly spec’d and built machine. The HD1 and HD1-S are the same machine, but the S includes a smith machine. If you’re tight on space, check out the BX2 which is our compact version. The BX2 includes most of the same great features.

A commercial grade, high capacity smith machine with more range of motion than competing models. Our custom design has a starting bar height of 11" which is much lower than most popular models that start between 15" and 20". This low starting point is desirable for users looking to deadlift or hip thrust. A high finish point of 78" will allow most users to accomplish standing overhead press or push press.

At the heart of the HD1-S you’ll find the sought after 7.5FT, 11 gauge, 3X3 frame with 1” holes which brings you maximum durability and aftermarket capability for any additional attachments you may want to add in the future.

The cable section delivers well thought-out functionality. The 2:1 cable ratio on the functional trainer gives buttery smooth action for all your accessory movements. The dedicated high towers deliver a heavier load with a 1:1 cable ratio for slower, heavier pulls. This station not only gives you twice the usable weight but also solves the common overhead alignment problem found on standard machines. The HD1S delivers a proper form lat pulldown, directly overhead with a heavy cable ratio and lat seat included.

Blazzed VS Fringe

Friendly fire? Grab your popcorn!

It's no secret that Blazzed and Fringe have been going head to head with some of the most competitive options on the market. Fringe has made some public remarks on our models to elevate their own. We don't necessarily agree with their opinions so we will share ours and let you decide.

Below is a screenshot from the Dane Release video where they show an HD1-S and call our racking system a waste of space. He's referring to the 15 racking points that we permanently mount on the smith machine racking column. This makes it easy to rack your smith machine bar in any location, switch exercises fast and have multiple starting points available for different size users training together at the same time.

Fringe has opted to delete the traditional smith machine racking system and install a bare 3X3 post with no permanent racking pins in its place. They provide you with 2 racking pins for you to mount and choose your start and stop points. They say you can now use this bare upright for storage when you're not using your smith machine. We aren't sure what you would want to store on this front upright and remove every time you want to use your smith machine? Have to set your own racking points instead of having them conveniently ready to go in all positions for all users? The funny part is, our model comes loaded with rear storage, additional cross bars, plate storage, bar storage and its in the rear so you don't have to remove things to use your smith machine. Their machine comes with no storage and they call our racking system a waste of space because theirs can be used for storage? Makes you scratch your head..

For the longest time, they called the Dane 2.0 superior because of 1:1 cable ratio at every pull point. I guess they walked that back with more expensive dual ratio models spec'd like ours. My guess is they'll walk the smith back too but I guess time will tell.  If it were up to us, we would stay quiet and let the equipment speak for itself. All in all, we're flattered and its fine by us.

FAQ

Common Questions

How are your prices so good?

We get asked this A LOT. We do everything in our power to align with our customers and marketing expenses are a large factor in that. Third party reviewers are awesome but they take commissions when you click on their links. We are one of the only companies you'll find that does not have any affiliate marketing or collaborations. Essentially, nobody has any incentive to recommend our products. All our videos are made by us and all the content we share on our socials is organic. It may not be as pretty but it allows us to be much more competitive and we pass all that savings onto our customers. Might help you understand why other brands target us and customers love us. We also own our factory and sell direct to consumer only. No dealer or third party markups

Do you offer assembly?

We do! There is an assembly link in the shopping menu of our website if you would like to get a quote or hire an installer. We recommend waiting to purchase that service until your machine arrives.

Assembly video and socket size?

Follow along with our installation video located on this product page. Purchase a 36mm socket if you don't already own one. Email support@blazzedfitness.com if you have any questions along the way!

How does this compare to the BX2?

The BX2 is essentially a compact version of the HD1-S. The biggest difference is that the HD models have a much larger frame which is designed to be compatible with aftermarket attachments that dont work on smaller frames. The HD models are also taller which can work better for taller users. We built a lot of the same features into the BX2 as we did on the HD models and the BX2 comes with a lot of the same attachments. Because the BX2 uses a compact smaller frame, it is not compatible with aftermarket attachments. That being said, the BX2 is a beast and we consider it to be one of the best options for compact spaces. If space is not a concern, the HD models will give a little more convivence and be more upgradable. If you have a diverse family, in your older years or working around injuries, the BX2 could be a better choice as everything on that machine is lighter and easier to set up.

Smith machine bar diameter?

We use a 35mm bar which has been the standard for smith machines for a very long time. This is the same diameter you would find on a Hoist smith machine in full commercial clubs and on most top tier models. Thicker barbells excel in pushing movements such as bench and squat by dispersing the load over a wider surface area which leads to less digging into your hands or back. Thinner bars excel in pulling exercises like deadlift and snatch by being easy to grip. Because the primary movers on smith machines are pushing exercises, thicker diameter has always been the go to. But of course like everything, it can be preference.

How wide are the uprights?

All Olympic squat racks are about 47" wide, across all brands and models because an Olympic barbell determines the width. The space between the barbells sleeves. HD1-S width is about 47.25"

Why do some pictures show trolley handles on the inside and some on outside?

Like many parts of the HD models, its preference and can install either way. The user manual will recommend mounting them to the inside which keeps them out of the way of plates during free weight training. Most find them avoidable and prefer exterior mounting. If you change your mind after install, you can disassemble the trolley and reverse it without taking apart the machine. It can easily be done with 2 sets of hands in under 5 minutes.

What other parts have install preference?

Trolley handles inside or out.
Pull-up bar fat grip in the front or rear.
Rear cross bar placement.
Weight stack stickers on the inside or outside.
Low row foot port on the left or right side.
Safety spotters on the smith or left off.
Barbell storage hook in the rear, side or interior.
Plate storage on the sides, rear, mounted inside the frame on back cross bars or mounted on the wall.

Do you offer heavier weight stacks?

We don't, because it eats valuable cable travel needed for a 1:1 ratio. You can use the HD adder pin listed in the gym attachments category to add additional weight to the stack. Keep in mind, our towers are @ 115% which gives a true 230lb pull.

What about leg extensions and leg curls?

We will not be making a rack attach leg ext/curl. They take up a lot of space when not in use. They are more difficult to install because they are heavy and harder to get on because you have to mount them high above the cable for full range. For those reasons most customers prefer a bench attached leg option that comes off easy and smaller to store when not in use. Or a dedicated leg ext/curl machine if you have the space.

Can the row plate be mounted on either side?

Yes, you can choose which side you install the port on during the assembly process.
